Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying can be taxing when someone’s life is being spotlighted to be cancelled. People have tried so hard to build their career through social medias like Youtube, Instagram, TikTok and many more, just for some keyboard warriors to destroy the kingdom they have built in manner of seconds. This affects the individual’s mind and due to the backlash, it would lead them to hurting themselves especially taking their own lives. Cyberbullying can be seen everywhere but the most can be seen in South Korea as it leads the celebrities into taking their own lives like K-pop stars, Goo Hara and Sulli.
In fact, these people were viciously attacked online for leading their own lives due to their popularity. Which leads to the question, should cyberbullied should or should not be banned from every sites? Yes, they should ban any malicious comments that could hurt an individual’s mental health; therefore, the algorithm is enabled to stop these incidents from occurring more often. The algorithm must be programmed with codes that tightens the rules so the keyboard warriors would not have the access to give malicious comments.
With this in mind, the laws should be tightened and MCMC should keep an eye on the algorithm therefore keeping track on the internet users misuse these social medias by tracking them down if found guilty. Consequently, if found guilty they could face jail for 2 years or fined by delegating a specified amount. On the other hand, cyber-bullies can be prosecuted under stalking laws as they are a harm to the technological community.
In spite of this unforgiving experiences, there are ways the society can come together to manage cyberbullying. For instance, protecting accounts and devices with powerful passwords which should never be shared to others. The passwords are only for your knowledge thus no one should have the access to your passwords. Besides that, enable privacy tools and settings as some platforms have tools to secure your accounts from the hands of the cyber-bullies. However, the most effective way to prevent from being bullied is refuse to engage with the cyberbullies because they are fishing for emotional responses. Therefore, if they are not entertained by the user, they would lose interest and are left with a one-sided communication.
To sum up, cyberbullying is never going to disappear from the face of the world however if counter attacked in the right way, we can prevent from being victims. All in all, we should be wise when using the medias in the internet and just drop any negative comments because out there they are a community who supports one another that could ward off the negativity of keyboard warriors.
